Navisite wins private cloud plaudit in DCS Awards
At the DCS (Data Centre Solutions) Awards 2016, Navisite was delighted to take the prize for an implementation undertaken with our partners at SRD Technology UK, for “Data Centre Private Cloud Project of the Year”. The DCS awards are designed to reward the product designers, manufacturers, suppliers and providers operating in data centre arena. That’s why we’re absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition.
At the centre of our entry was the solution we created for sexual abuse and rape prevention charity Safeline.
The charity had previously worked in an overcrowded office with an ageing IT infrastructure and no ability for volunteers to work remotely. Safeline desperately needed to modernise its IT platforms to enable survivors to access support quickly and easily, to give its staff the tools they needed to realise its ambitions of helping even more survivors of abuse and to protect the sensitive personal data of their clients. The solution, designed and implemented by SRD leveraging Navisite’s technology for a Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) facility transformed its operations.
Organisations are increasingly choosing to adopt the hosted, cloud-based DaaS model to enable remote access, mobility and BYOD policies – all while maintaining control and security over sensitive or confidential data. With DaaS, organisations are able to provide full desktop services, accessible from any end-point device that can run a browser, whilst allowing IT departments to maintain complete control over the data and software.
Having implemented the DaaS solution, Safeline says that its staff have been enabled to work remotely, productivity has increased and, as a result, is now helping thousands more survivors – all within the same budget. At the same time, there’s total reliability – no downtime; and new staff can be trained within hours.
The charity has saved at least £50,000 per annum in costs. And its modernisation has helped it expand its operations within its sector. As well as the cost efficiency and productivity gains, the charity’s sensitive client data is now hosted and backed up in Navisite’s secure, Tier III data centre, and kept in compliance with all relevant data regulations.
Navisite is proud to have won this award, but it’s even more proud to be a part of enabling the vital work that Safeline does.
