All Hallows’ Eve, one of my favorite days of the year! When else can you pretend to be someone (or something) completely different for just a day – it’s quite liberating, don’t you think? I for one, like to stick to the super hero basics – Clark Kent, Iron Man and the like. Super heroes are always there to save the day, in the same way the cloud comes to the rescue to save IT infrastructure from all the scary things that can happen. FRONTEO’s Horror Story
When dealing with terabytes of data, reliability and efficiency is key to servicing clients. FRONTEO provides end-to-end project management, litigation consulting and eDiscovery solutions for a global base of law firms and corporations. FRONTEO could no longer tolerate the reliability issues it was having with the company’s previous network provider at their legacy New York City data centre location. With the success of its clients’ litigation depending on fast, reliable access to information, FRONTEO could not afford to let its network provider’s reliability issues negatively impact business.
- FRONTEO’s Super Hero Solution – FRONTEO began the relationship with high-speed fibre connectivity via Dedicated Internet Access from Time Warner Cable Business Class (now Spectrum Enterprise). This helped to keep pace with growing data demand and increased use of cloud applications. Eventually, FRONTEO shifted to an enterprise-class, off-premises data centre solution. After evaluating other providers, the made the decision to go with Navisite’s Colocation solution. This choice set the groundwork for FRONTEO to harness a fully on-net, single-provider solution for connectivity and hosting. As a result, scalability of the dedicated fibre bandwidth has been essential in helping FRONTEO adapt to fluctuations in data volume. When the project-based business is busier than usual, FRONTEO has the flexibility to add bandwidth rapidly. When the ‘demand bursts’ subside, they can then scale back to normal levels.
ASOS’ Horror Story
ASOS is one of the world’s largest online only fashion and beauty businesses - selling over 50,000 branded and owned label product lines. Given ASOS’ accelerated business and global expansion, its existing testing and development systems could no longer scale to meet the needs of the business. The aging, in-house infrastructure was unable keep pace with the company’s remarkable 30 percent plus year-on-year growth, putting the company at risk of not being able to meet demand and potentially leaving clients to look elsewhere for their fashion fix.
- ASOS’ Super Hero Solution – Only a scalable cloud solution could provide ASOS with the flexibility the company required. When ASOS searched for potential vendors, they were not just looking for a technology provider, but rather a genuine partner who would be able to support their ongoing business goals and chose Navisite as its preferred partner. OSHEAN, a nonprofit network services collaborative of Rhode Island community institutions, needed a cloud services platform that would seamlessly extend its members’ VMware-based IT environment, without the cost and complexity of internal development.
