5 Recommended Readings from Cloud Peers & Partners
For many of us, October is the calm before the holiday season storm and the quick breath of air before racing to the finish line of Q4 at the office. The changing seasons, and lull before things get hectic, is a perfect time to take a step back and read what cloud industry leaders are saying about critical issues impacting today’s enterprise—from maintaining Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) in the wake of a storm to getting familiar with new solutions—Navisite partners and peers offer expert insight on how to innovate.
While there are many great articles being shared around cloud, I wanted to call out five readings I’ve bookmarked and shared with my team from our valued partners in the industry:
1. Commvault: Stop relying on backups (alone)
My team recently attended the CommvaultGO conference with our data protection partners over at Commvault, and if you missed the conference, the blog is a great way to gain insights on the latest data recovery best practices. This blog details the importance of a centralized and comprehensive solution to monitor and manage backups, snapshots and replicas—as well as the disk, tape, and cloud repositories—in order to truly hone your backup strategy. It’s a great read to better understand the very colorful “Data Protection Spectrum!”
While many areas of the United States are recovering from the effects of Hurricane Matthew, our partner, Zerto, continues to deliver data replication and resiliency expertise to help organizations maintain their operations through the storm. This blog highlights the importance of taking proactive measures to prepare for natural disasters before they strike. It’s a good reminder of the importance of planning ahead and ensuring your business remains virtually intact in the wake of a storm.
3. AlertLogic: Who’s attacking you and why?
AlertLogic, our partners in security and compliance, recently wrote about the importance of looking beyond hacker stereotypes to better understand business vulnerabilities. This blog includes insights from a recent Zero Day Magazine article and helps to quell misconceptions around the modern hacker by taking a deeper dive on what motivates different cybercriminals to engage in a breach.
On the heels of Microsoft Ignite and Worldwide Partner Conference, where our partner proclaimed, “Cloud is the new normal,” Microsoft continues to tout the benefits of cloud on their blog. In this blog, you’ll learn how Azure is contributing in a significant way to business transformation. You’ll also get a more detailed breakdown of new compute offerings made available through Azure.
5. VMware: Big Reveal: VMware’s Vision for AirWatch Analytics & Business Intelligence
Last, but certainly not least, is our partner VMware! VMware recently announced plans to uncover new levels of business intelligence by evolving the VMware AirWatch unified endpoint management (UEM) solution. This piece highlights how AirWatch will anonymously glean information from a company’s mobile deployments to better inform IT’s mobile strategy.
As we approach the end of 2016, it will be interesting to read what our partners and peers write about emerging cloud trends and transformative solutions for the new year. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on these blogs for the latest innovations in IT!
